Davis High’s men’s varsity tennis team came up short in a tightly contested match on Feb. 24 against Campolindo, ultimately falling 5-4.

Campolindo is not part of the league, but each year, Davis faces off against them. ”We haven’t beat them since 2019,” senior Nathan Yamamoto said. “The match is always early in the season before our league schedule so everyone treats the match as more of a scrimmage or practice match.”

The team plans to focus on refining their skills before the official league season begins. “Changing direction on my groundstrokes and being able to hit back-hand down the line,” Yamamoto said.

Despite the loss, Davis fought hard and demonstrated skill on the court. “I stayed aggressive and kept my foot on my opponent’s neck. Go Davis!” senior Lou Bowlus said.
