The Men’s varsity lacrosse team showed up for a tough match against the Folsom Bulldogs over spring break. The Blue Devils fought hard but ultimately lost with a score of 14-18.

Starting off strong, Davis led the game with a 2-point lead in the first quarter and a 3-point lead in the second quarter. The early lead was thanks to the top scorers junior Leho Kim and senior Jackson Chelius.

In a sudden change of pace in the 3rd quarter, with a two-minute non-releasable penalty, Folsom quickly overturned the dominance Davis had held throughout the game and scored 6 consecutive goals providing them with a major lead.

“I was very optimistic in the beginning and then some things turned and we had problems executing which is, well, disappointing,” head coach Nick Juri said.

A goal scored by junior Jonah Spang eased the damage for the Blue Devils in the 3rd quarter however, they were unable to fully recover. Davis ultimately conceded the match to Folsom.

“We were already low on spirit due to poor play and the refereeing was a bit dicey so it really took a lot of our spirit out of the game and we just couldn’t rally the troops to put up a fight,” sophomore Hudson Mech said.

The 4th quarter followed a similar pattern with both teams scoring five goals, finishing off the match with a 14-18 loss for Davis.

“These guys are going to have to pull together and figure out if they want to win or not,” Juri said. “We’re going to build for the future and hopefully these seniors can out up a fight in their last couple of games,”
