The Davis High Blue Devils lost to the Folsom Bulldogs in a close 1-3 game on April 8.

Both teams came out slow, with no runs scored in the first inning.

Folsom scored the first run of the game in the second inning, taking the lead. The Bulldogs continued to pull ahead, scoring two more runs in the third inning, stretching the lead to three.

“We need to jump on it from the first inning and get the momentum going,” junior Sofia Lester said.

Freshman Layla Duarte came in to pitch the 5th inning and was able to keep Folsom from scoring for the remainder of the game. “She did a great job stepping in and holding them from scoring,” head coach Tyler Gibson said.

The Devils got their first two batters on base to start the last inning but weren’t able to score. The game ended 1-3. “It was good to see the fight, even though [the Devils] were down,” Gibson said. “We could have held them to one or two runs less, and we need to get ourselves a few more runs,”

“Even though we didn’t win, we learned a good lesson and can hopefully come out and get a win next game,” Lester said.
