Davis High’s women’s varsity lacrosse dominated its Senior Night against Rocklin High on April 22.
Davis came out fast, scoring three goals in the first few minutes.
By the end of the first quarter, Davis led 4-0 and maintained control, denying Rocklin any chances to score. A goal from McMullen pushed the lead to 12-0 at halftime.
“It’s Senior Night, so it was just all about having fun and just being a team player and just making sure that everyone had a great experience,” McMullen said. “Whenever I come out here, I have fun.”
Davis kept up the pressure in the second half, continuing to dominate on all sides of the ball, leaving the score 16-0 by the end of the third quarter.
The game marked the end of the season and new achievements for the team, especially for McMullen. “I’ve been trying to get a backhanded goal all season, and I finally got one tonight, so that was fun,” McMullen said.
Rocklin scored once in the fourth quarter, but it did not affect the outcome. Davis finished with a dominant 19-1 victory, ending the regular season with a 10-4 record.
“I think the last two games, we didn’t have the energy,” head coach Nilo Ayson said. “This game, we brought the energy of Senior Night. They worked well together. They started to gel as a team again, and that was good to see.”
