Men’s volleyball falls 3-0 to Jesuit

The Davis High men’s varsity volleyball team lost to Jesuit on March 31 after losing three consecutive sets.

The Blue Devils consistently showed their skills in this game, using their high endurance and evolving offense to step up to the challenge against the opposing team. One player slid across the floor and hit his head on the bleachers, only to stand up and get right back into the game.

Jesuit took the win with a high lead in each set with scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-14.

Though it ended with a loss, head coach Isaac Rivera says the team will not wallow in that outcome, and continue to refine for the next game on Thursday.

“We’re consistently looking to get better every single day, whether that’s on the court or off the court,” Rivera said. “So I think specifically for this match, it came down to a couple reading options in our middle, there was a big descending factor there.”

He also stated that the team needed to also focus on their consistency, a statement senior Mohammad Reggad agrees with.

“A lot of (us) are still young, still learning. We’re not there mentally yet. So if we fix those mistakes in our future games and get there mentally, that would be a lot better,” Reggad said. 

Other teammates, like senior Ryan Buzbee, plan on also making sure they still have their high advantages.

“I’m looking to keep the energy high through all the games so that we can stay at a high level and don’t dip down and get into our heads,” Buzbee said.
